Ayurvedic Vetiver Hair Growth Mix — traditional Kerala hair care
Our vetiver hair growth mix is a Kerala-tradition herbal blend built around vetiver root (ramacham) — the cooling, antibacterial, aromatic root famously used in traditional Kerala hair and skin preparations. Combined with hibiscus, amla, methi, brahmi, and other classical herbs, this powder is designed to be mixed into a weekly hair mask that supports scalp health, reduces hair fall, and promotes shine.
Key herbs and their traditional roles
- Vetiver (Ramacham): Cooling, antibacterial, improves scalp circulation. Classical Kerala summer herb.
- Hibiscus: Strengthens hair roots, natural conditioner, traditional remedy for premature greying.
- Amla (Indian gooseberry): Vitamin C rich, strengthens hair follicles, slows greying.
- Methi (Fenugreek): Protein-rich, reduces dandruff, promotes shine.
- Brahmi: Scalp-calming, supports hair growth.
- Additional classical herbs: Selected for traditional hair-tonic properties.
How to make the hair mask
- Take 2 tablespoons powder in a glass bowl.
- Mix with warm water, warm coconut oil, or yogurt to form a smooth paste (not too thick, not too runny).
- Let sit for 10 minutes — this activates the herbs.
- Apply to scalp and hair length. Massage gently.
- Cover with shower cap or towel.
- Leave 45-60 minutes.
- Wash with mild herbal shampoo. May need two rinses.
Frequency
Weekly for maintenance. Twice weekly for 6-8 weeks if dealing with significant hair fall or dandruff. Then back to weekly.
Expected results
Consistent weekly use over 2-3 months traditionally shows: reduced hair fall, less scalp itching, better shine, less dandruff. Hair growth itself is slow (biological cycle ~1cm/month regardless of product) but strength and shine improve faster.
Storage
Airtight jar in cool dry cupboard. 1 year peak potency. Avoid moisture — the powder absorbs humidity and clumps.
Precautions
- Patch test on inner arm 24 hours before first use.
- Don’t apply to broken scalp or active skin infections.
- Natural herbs — mild colouring possible on very light hair (usually washes out).
- Discontinue if irritation develops.
