Kerala Ayurveda Homemade Soap — the traditional way
Our Kerala Ayurvedic homemade soap is hand-poured in small batches following the classical cold-process method used in traditional Kerala households. Each 65g bar is made from a base of pure coconut oil, infused with carefully selected Ayurvedic herbs — no mass-produced chemistry, no synthetic foaming agents, no artificial colours or fragrances.
Why switch to Ayurvedic homemade soap?
Commercial soaps strip the skin of its natural oils because of harsh surfactants (SLS/SLES), parabens, and petroleum-derived ingredients. Over months and years this causes dryness, premature ageing, pigmentation, and sensitisation. Traditional Kerala Ayurvedic soap works differently — the natural glycerin from coconut oil saponification stays in the bar, cleansing gently while preserving the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
Key ingredients and their traditional role
- Pure coconut oil base: Rich lather, moisturising, antimicrobial.
- Kerala herbal extracts: Aloe vera, neem, tulsi, turmeric (varies by variant).
- Natural glycerin: Retained from the cold-process method for softer skin.
- No parabens, no sulphates, no synthetic fragrance.
How to use
Wet the bar, work into a mild lather, massage gently on wet skin for 20-30 seconds, rinse with lukewarm water. Pat dry — don’t rub. Suitable for daily face and body use.
Storage
Keep the bar in a well-draining soap dish between uses. Dries out in a wet dish or standing water, reducing life. Stored properly, one 65g bar lasts 3-4 weeks of daily use.
FAQ
Is this soap safe for babies? The base formula is gentle, but we recommend consulting a pediatrician before using any soap on infants under 1 year.
Will it dry my skin? Traditional Ayurvedic soap retains natural glycerin and is less drying than commercial soaps. Those with very dry skin may want to apply a light moisturiser afterwards.
How long does one bar last? 3-4 weeks of daily shower use for one person, when stored in a draining soap dish.
Can I use it on my face? Yes, most people can — it’s gentler than commercial face wash. Patch test on inner arm for the first use.
