What is Kerala Mixture?
Kerala Mixture (കേരള മിക്സ്ചർ) is the classic South Indian tea-time savoury — a crunchy blend of gram-flour sev, boondi, roasted peanuts, cashew nuts, chana dal, raisins, fried curry leaves and chillies. Each ingredient is prepared separately in the traditional way, then combined with just the right amount of salt and spice. Kerala’s version is distinct from Tamil mixture — slightly spicier, with more curry leaves and sometimes a hint of coconut.
What’s inside our mixture
- Crispy gram-flour sev (fine and thick)
- Puffed boondi (small round drops)
- Roasted peanuts
- Cashew nuts
- Fried chana dal (split roasted gram)
- Fried curry leaves — the Kerala signature
- Dried red chillies
- A few golden raisins for sweet contrast
- Salt, turmeric, asafoetida
- All fried fresh in pure coconut oil
Why coconut oil
Authentic Kerala mixture is always fried in pure coconut oil — never in refined vegetable oil. This gives the mixture its characteristic aroma, golden colour, and the slightly nutty undertone that Kerala-style snacks are famous for.

Medium heat — enough to notice the chilli and pepper, but not overwhelming. Kerala style keeps the heat balanced.

Is this mixture vegetarian?
Yes — 100% vegetarian. Contains gram flour, peanuts, cashews, chana dal, raisins, and spices. Fried in coconut oil.
Does it contain nuts (allergen note)?
Yes — contains peanuts and cashews. May contain traces of other nuts. Not suitable for those with nut allergies.

In small quantities as an occasional snack. It contains carbohydrates (gram flour, sev) and some sugar (raisins). Consult your doctor if you have dietary restrictions.
